Wind-lock Sustainability Statement
As a member of the building materials industry, Wind-lock acknowledges the impact our industry has on the environment. We recognize the importance of using resources responsibly, protecting those resources and contributing to the sustainability of the environment. We constantly take steps to make sure we operate our business in an environmentally responsible manner. We fulfill this commitment by consciously reducing the carbon footprint of our operations and by seeking out products to market that enable our customers to improve the environmental impact of the buildings they create.
Eco-friendly actions we have taken in our day-to-day business lives:
- Establishment of multiple warehouse facilities throughout the US to reduce transit of orders and minimize impact on the ozone.
- Installing web, video- and teleconference capabilities to conduct business with minimal air travel.
- Zoned HVAC system with night-time and weekend setback
- Installation of ceiling fans to increase air circulation and maintain the same temperature throughout all office areas.
- Recycling and re-using printer and toner cartridges and emphasizing the use of “draft” print settings and paper produced by environmentally responsible mills.
- Separating and collecting materials supported by local municipal recycling programs.
- Reducing the amount of materials we print in our marketing programs and when we do print we opt for the uses eco-friendly papers and inks.
- Increased our use of e-marketing and email blasts in order to reduce paper materials used in direct mailings.
- Utilization of office supplies that contain higher percentages of recycled content (i.e. pens, ink cartridges, folders, post-its, etc.)
- Establishment of a Sustainability Task Force, to look for opportunities to lesson our impact on the environment and be responsible in our everyday lives.
Our sustainability statement will continue to evolve as we re-invest and re-define our actions as eco-goals and technology continues to change and improve.
